A Partnership to Express Christ’s Love through Affordable Home Ownership
From 2023 – 2025, hundreds of Catholics will put their faith into action volunteering, fundraising, and advocating because they believe what Jesus taught in caring for those in need. Catholics Building on Faith is all about love, faith, and family, and we invite you to participate in this inspiring and heart lifting endeavor.
People of all walks of life and faiths are welcome to join the Catholics Building on Faith East Madison Village initiative. Let’s get building!

Volunteer
As we begin construction, volunteer help will be an invaluable part of making a difference one day at a time. See the progress made first hand! Come swing a hammer, paintbrush, or shovel and help build some homes for families in need of a hand up.

Advocate
There are many ways that you can advocate for this worthy cause:

East Madison Village
Habitat’s goal is to raise $450,000 over the next two years, with the purpose of constructing four new townhomes at 726 E. Madison St. in Rapid City. Four families qualifying for the Black Hills Area Habitat homeownership program must show a need, have enough income to pay back an affordable mortgage, and put in 250 hours of sweat equity on their home and other partner families’ homes.
We anticipate many Catholics and non-Catholics will unite and enthusiastically commit themselves to give, volunteer, and advocate for this cause inspired by the teachings of Jesus to care for those in need.

Groundbreaking Ceremony
History of Partnership
In 2013-14, five Catholic Churches of Rapid City partnered with Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity to build two houses. Blessed Sacrament, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Isaac Jogues, St. Therese, and Our Lady of the Black Hills worked together and hundreds of Catholics put their faith into action volunteering, fundraising, and advocating for adequate housing.
