15th Annual Tees for Keys Golf Tournament Draws Record Crowd
Rapid City, SD – June 14, 2023. Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity held its 15th annual Tees for Keys Golf tournament on Monday, June 12 to raise $75,000 to cover half of the costs of a new home. This is the largest golf tournament in the event’s history with 146 golfers and 26 sponsors.
Kelly Buntrock, Chairperson for the Tees for Keys Golf Tournament and Vice President, Relationship Manager for First Interstate Bank, has been chairing the golf committee for the past couple years, and said the tournament has hit a sweet spot.
“We have a lot of return teams and players that come every year,” he said. “Special thanks to the Golf Club at Red Rock, who makes this a great tournament. It’s also testament to the committee and the staff members putting in hard work and making it a great tournament.”
“We were really glad to see a lot of new people this year, too, said Kenzie Oswald, Black Hills Area Resource Development Administrator. “Golfers of all skill levels enjoyed the fun fundraising event which has raised over $450,000 over the past 15 years to build and repair homes for qualifying applicants.”
“For me, what I love about this is that we get a wonderful group of people together who love having a good time together but also passionate about giving back to their community. So they are giving back while they are having fun,” said Scott Engmann, Black Hills Area Habitat Executive Director. “At the end of the day, people want to make a difference, but they also want to connect with each other. This event provides that wonderful mix of fun and generosity.”
Black Hills Area Habitat would like to see even more sponsors associated with this event next year. Contact Kenzie Oswald for more information at kenzie@blackhillsareahabitat.org.
