Committees

Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is always eager to welcome active, caring people to take part in our various committees as chairpeople, secretaries, or standing members!

Our Active Committees include:

Family Selection:

Members review all applications, review credit reports, conduct home visits to consider substandard housing need, and recommend partner families to the Board of Directors. They meet as needed and conduct the quarterly information meetings.

Family Support:

Members provide support to families as they progress through the Habitat partner family process. A family support member answers the family’s questions and encourages them throughout their time in the program, as well as monitors their progress with sweat equity hours and classroom participation. The relationship continues through the first year of home ownership and hopefully beyond.

Meets the fourth Tuesday of the month @ 4:30 PM at Habitat office.

Construction Committee:

Members of this committee discuss construction materials, and practices.

Meets the first Wednesday of every month @ noon at the Habitat office
 Chairperson: Clint Jolley


Site Selection:

Members utilize their expertise to determine if property is appropriate for construction of Habitat homes. The committee works in conjunction with the construction committee, and is always looking for and soliciting property.

We hope to establish the following committee(s) in the Black Hills:

Northern Hills Committee: Committee members will help identify families, volunteer and building opportunities in the northern hills.

 Southern Hills Committee: Committee members will help identify families, volunteer and building opportunities in the southern hills.
