A Brush with Kindness focuses primarily on neighborhood beautification through the exterior painting and landscaping fix-up of homes. Although labor is offered free of charge, homeowners are responsible to repay the materials costs of the repair. Minor exterior repairs are possible at the discretion of A Brush with Kindness leaders.
A Brush with Kindness partners with low-income homeowners based on need and the scope of the work.
Program Requirements:
Must own and occupy a home that needs and could benefit from short-term exterior improvements.
Must meet the income guidelines.
Must be willing to partner with Habitat.
Must be unable to afford necessary home improvements and unable to complete them otherwise due to age, disability, or circumstance.
Must not plan to move from their home in the next five years.
How do I apply?
To apply for A Brush with Kindness, you must fill out an application. To receive an application by mail, please call the Habitat office at 605-348-9196 or email JB Ransdell at Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity and an application will be mailed to you.
